If I could live in any country, I would choose to live in Los Angeles because I would like to improve my English there and I think it is a great chance to become a popstar there because I like to dance and to sing.

But I think it could be a really hard job because there are really many people who would like to become a popstar too. I would miss my family and my friends, especially Natalie and my dog Amy. And also I would miss the food, the Austrian food. I really like Schnitzel and I would miss it very much and my grandma is a really good cook.

The problems I might face are for example that they might not like my songs and that I am not a good enough popstar and I do not know what to do then.

Deforestation

Why is deforestation happening?

There is a growing number of people in the world. That means more food is needed. Therefore, more forests are destroyed to make space for farming. Also, people need wood to make furniture, houses and many more everyday things.

Deforestation causes

There are many causes of deforestation. I will be listing some:

making more land available for housing and urbanization
making room for cattle ranching
harvesting timber to create such as paper or furniture
creating ingredients

Deforestation effects

Loss of species
A lot of animals live in forests which are their habitats. And that’s why the animals are dying out.
Water cycle
Trees are important to the water cycle → they absorb water rainfall and produce water vapor.

Why is deforestation such an important matter?

When forests are cleared, the land and soil become exposed to the weather.
The animals die out because the forests are destroyed
Increased flooding also becomes a result of deforestation

What can we do to help?

People can do a lot of things to help stop deforestation so please try and follow some of these steps to help us save the trees:

Use recycled items
Stop using palm oil
Plant trees when you cut down one
Stop wasting natural resources
Re-use items

Witches in Shakespeare’s time were seen as horrid, cursing people, who brought wickedness and sickness to the world. If someone was a witch, they would be tried, and be tested to see if they were a witch. For example, a subject might be thrown into the lake. If they floated, they would be considered a honourable man/ woman and God would give them a place in heaven.

My name is Nathan and I play the violin and a bit of the piano. I like playing the violin because it’s not like any other instrument, like the piano, and because the piano forms; you have just to click on a note and it will play it. In the violin you actually have to play it. You have to use your finger. You have to use the bow. You have to use all the parts of violin to form the note.

And my favourite violin group is the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and they are very, very good. They do every year on the New Year, they do a concert at the Musikverein, which is in Vienna, here. And it’s very nice to watch and see, cause usually there’s always surprises that they do, and it’s really fun to watch.

This is the music room which I’m standing in, and as you can see, we have the xylophones, we have all the music notes. We have actually a whiteboard and the note lines, which is very cool, and it’s a really nice music room.

My name is Valentina and today I am going to talk about one of my favorite book characters. She is called Clarice Bean and she is 11 years old and I am going to show you a picture. This Clarice Bean. She is really funny and she always likes to do things, like coloring in and going outside and playing and stuff. And I like her because she is always doing things that are not really allowed.

So I can read something to you. One or two pages. I have this younger brother Minal Cricket. We have to share so I have drawn down a line in the middle. If he puts one toe over to my side, he is sorry. Minal Cricket likes to hang upside down until he turns purple. Then he sort of wiggles around like a maggot.

Sometimes I say: “I haven´t got time for all your nonsense.” And he says “Twit” and I say “Twit and a half”. And he says “Twit with a carrot in your ears.” And then I flick his nose with my ruler and he says “Mum” in this really whiney brother way and Mum says “No flicking noses with ruler.” And I say “What do you flick noses then with?” And she says “Celery” And I say “We have run out” And she says “No flicking noses then”.

So you see, this is one of my favorite parts of all the books. And I hope you enjoyed my book presentation.

Austrian Pancakes

Today I’m going to cook some Austrian style pancakes. I am going to start off with a bowl, I’m going to put two eggs in there. Alright, next step: put some milk in there. Okay, around 600 milliliters should be just enough of that. Now we are going to mix this up properly. Okay, now we should be ready to add a dash of salt – and add the flour. Now we are mixing this up again.

Alright now, this should not be a total solid neither should it be a total liquid so we are just going to add some more flour here, two spoons, nothing more. Alright. And now we mix again. So now that we are done with stirring this up and if there are no bits left in there, I am just going to put this to the side and add a little bit of oil into our pan. Not a lot, just maybe teaspoons should be enough, gently. Then we are going to turn on the stove.

Okay, we are just going to let this heat up and when it has reached the perfect heat we are going to put in one spoon of our mix. Now this should be ready and we can add one of our big spoons of the mixture into the pan. And now, if you see that it is going brown on the one side, you just have to be brave and just go under there and flip that around. Okay, if you see that it is going brown on the other side as well, you can just put that on your plate. And then you made your first Austrian style pancake.

Alright, now that you are done cooking these, you can add pretty much whatever you want to them. We usually add jam to them, but you can also add honey or maple syrup or whatever you want to, to be exact. They are also really good with chocolate syrup and vanilla ice-cream. And my special tip is that you add lemon to them and a little sugar as well. It tastes really nice, it might not sound that nice but you can try it, if you like it.

Look,I’ve already started making my own rainstick. This is the tube. I’ve started painting it in three different colours because I like painting the best. I’ve hammered three hundred nails in. I used some tape to cover the nails. Instead of lentils I’m gonna use cherry pits because I have a really big cherry tree in my garden. Now I’m going to put one lid on one side on. I have to make sure that I put it really tightly. Now I have to pour them carefully in. Now I’m going to pick the other cherry pits that fell out also in the stick. Now I have to put the other lid also on and now I finally have my rainstick. Bye
