History of Skiing

The first skier with two ski poles was in 1741. Before that, they used one pole or a spear. In 1809 Olav Rye was the very first ski jumper.

Skiing exercises and races came from the military.​ The name of “Ski​” came from the Old Norse​, it was pronounced Norwegian.

The earliest skis found date back to 5000​ bc! In 1936 the very first chair lift​ was made.

Before the ski boots were real leather winter boots. Now they are better and are made of plastic. As skis got more complicated, so did the boots.

Back then they used cable binding. And now we use our force to do it ourselves.

Forces and ice – skating

When you ice skate, you glide on ice smoothly because there is less friction on ice than on land.

To start, you have to push on the ice with your ice skates to go forward. To do the fishes, you have to push out and then to push back in, but not backwards. Push forwards, creating an oval motion. Then you will start to move forwards.

Art Critic

Last week we went to the Kunsthaus to inquire into visual art.

Our learning goal is to develop and share your understanding about how the the

arts use signs and symbols – unique strategies – to make meaning and evoke an

individual response.

Role: You are an art critic, an expert in visual arts.

Audience: You will be sharing your critiques with your peers during an art

exhibition.

Situation: You are at an art exhibition critiquing pieces of art.

Product: Your product is a critique of an artwork of your choice. You will be asked

to display this at the exhibition.

Description of the piece: This picture shows a school in Frankfurt but as you can see this

school is not so normal.

My response: This building is a really cool abstract and it also has a good influence on

nature. This building is unique and one of a kind. This building makes me feel wild but with a

lot of care for nature. For me the two domes represent the sun and the moon and all in all

this building is cool and nice.

My favourite subjects are maths, reading graphic novels, writing and football. I am also interested in coding/hacking. I especially like adding multiplying and square routes.
