History of Skiing
The first skier with two ski poles was in 1741. Before that, they used one pole or a spear. In 1809 Olav Rye was the very first ski jumper.
Skiing exercises and races came from the military. The name of “Ski” came from the Old Norse, it was pronounced Norwegian.
The earliest skis found date back to 5000 bc! In 1936 the very first chair lift was made.
Before the ski boots were real leather winter boots. Now they are better and are made of plastic. As skis got more complicated, so did the boots.
Back then they used cable binding. And now we use our force to do it ourselves.
