    Texts & Transcripts

This platform provides you with authentic texts written by children and teenagers for language learners.Sometimes the handwriting may be hard to read or there may be small mistakes. This is why users can click on Transcript to find a corrected version. To keep the texts authentic only minor changes have been made and highlighted in light grey.

    How to pick a text

The frames around the texts show how challenging they are. Yellow is the colour for A1, A2 is orange, B1 is red, B2 is dark red and even more demanding texts are purple. There are several topics to choose from.

    Tasks

Most texts come with two tasks and a classroom task. Task 1 is a closed quiz-type activity which provides the learners with immediate feedback. Learners are told whether they have solved the item correctly, partially correctly, or not. Additionally, the learners are given verbal feedback. On completion of the task a report is provided. This informs about the number of correct answers, the time needed, the score in percentages compared to the average score reached by all users in this task and the percentage within the five competences. The feedback can be printed. Task 2 offers open questions which cannot be feedbacked directly through the platform. Therefore, teacher feedback is recommended. Classroom tasks are suggestions for teaching with the text.

    Scores and feedback

Scores and feedback can be printed.

    Reply

Learners can also comment on a text or task. In cases of inappropriate language or insults, comments will not be posted.

    Lexis

In Lexis learners can find collections of words and phrases in mind maps or graphic organisers which can help them in oral or written production. The collections can be printed and learners can add their own words and phrases they would like to remember. Learners should be encouraged to make their own collections. For more information on Lexical Notebooks go to Palm4Teachers.

    Activities

In Activities, links to text-related games and game-based activities can be found.

    Rating

    ID

In ID information about the author(s) of the text or video is provided.
