Function:
- supports us
- protects us (our inner organs)
- helps us move
Without our skeleton we would collapse!
Bones:
- make up the skeleton
- we have got 206 bones in total
- they are stiff and can break
Specific bones:
- the skull protects the brain
- the ribs protect heart, stomach, liver,…
- the spine = supporting rod for head, arms and legs
- allows us to turn, nod the head and twist shoulders and hips
- “S” –shaped for balance and acts as suspension
