Mother tongue
One important reason of reading in your mother tongue is because to develop your mother tongue (if you don’t know it so well, like me). Having to read your mother tongue is most likely to make you learn something about your mother tongue, like new words, the correct pronunciation of the new words or the words you already know, and probably a definition etc… They probably want to understand more of their language.
